Apprenticeship
The Brooklyn Barbell Club Apprenticeship Program (BBCAP) is an intensive course of study in the art and science of strength and conditioning coaching. The BBCAP will go in depth into various topics that every coach should know: anatomy and physiology, exercise science, programming, proper mechanics and more. The apprentice should be prepared to be in the gym at least 3 times a week. There is a weekly class with reading and writing assignments. There is a weekly practicum where the apprentice will coach other apprentices and get feedback. The apprentice is required to assist in one class per week and train a client 1-on-1 at least 2x per week. The apprentice also has to maintain their personal training schedule of at least 3x per week. The apprentice must log all their work on the apprentice blog that will be viewed by all the apprentices so that people can comment and critique each other.
